After 1.5 years, 3 contractors and countless surprises hiding under the floors, the attic guest room bathroom is finally complete! What started as two small and barely functional rooms is now a large, luxurious spa-like oasis.
My Grandma was the queen of everything clever, from her use of witty banter to her “why didn’t I think of that?!” solutions for everyday problems. She always had fresh flowers around her house, but didn’t always have the time to perfectly arrange them. Thus came one of her many ingenious “hacks” before that was even a thing. I’m going to share her secret to a full, lush looking arrangement without breaking the bank.
Every once in awhile, I’ll find myself scouring Craigslist for those elusive diamonds in the rough. This particular day, I majorly scored. I bought a pair of vintage Thomasville Bamboo dressers and a matching cane back chair (more on that make-over another day.) This DIY make-over is one of my favorites – the result is stunning and it only took an afternoon.
I’m taking a quick break from all things home to talk about one of my favorite obsessions – all things beauty! Any of my friends will tell you that I’m always on the hunt for that next “holy grail” product – whether it be a new favorite lipgloss or moisturizer, I’ve always got room for “one more”. But as I’ve gotten older, my beauty philosophy has changed from try as it all, to investing in fewer, better, and better for me products. And I see them as just that, an investment. It just so happens that now is the perfect time to stock up as Sephora is having a 15% EVERYTHING sale for all VIB members. If you haven’t signed up, do it! You earn points which get you free stuff, and you have access to lots of other perks. Below are the items I’m stocking up on – they are all natural, luxurious, cruelty free (this is huge for me!!) and most of all, they work!
One of my favorite ways to bring fresh spring style into my home is with potted greenery, like succulents and neutral toned orchids. I found this fantastic resin clamshell at my local Home Goods, and knew it would be the perfect container for a simple planter with a high end, designer look.
One of the first things I like to do as soon as the weather permits is refresh my front porch planters. It’s such an easy way to add some color and cheer, even before the rest of the gardens come alive. I have five easy tips that I have learned along the way that I’d love to share!
The time has come to put away the winter scents and bring out the fresh spring newness! I have launched three new candle fragrances that I’m so excited about!! Basil & Linden Blossom is a cool citrus that blends with fresh herbs and amber, Spring Rain is a delightful fresh floral that combines with a warm white musk, and Cucumber Mint is a soft, subtle and reminiscent of a relaxing afternoon at the spa. They make perfect baby and bridal shower gifts – tis the season!!
One of my favorite things to do in the evening when it’s cold out (or not cold, let’s be honest) is to cozy up in bed way early, and watch a movie (or Bravo as the case may very well be). I try and make my bedroom feel as luxurious and pampering as a room at a boutique hotel, and making sure my nightstand is stocked with a few necessities is essential in making this happen.
The kitchen is the heart of the home, and ours is no exception. We were so lucky that the previous owners took such great care and attention to detail when customizing the kitchen. It was perfect for the most part, but there was one thing I decided to update – the range hood.
One of the first furniture DIY projects I ever did was this little nightstand. A huge pet peeve of mine are nightstands that offer no practical storage. This had great bones to it with a pull out drawer as well as open storage space underneath. That being said, it needed some serious love.
